Although summer is coming to an end, there are still plenty of ways to make it fun! Whether you’re looking for a budget-friendly craft idea or a fun way to repurpose everyday items, pool noodles offer endless possibilities for creativity all year long. Who knew one of summer’s most affordable pool toys could be used in so many different ways? Pool noodles are lightweight, colorful, easy to shape, and surprisingly versatile, making them the perfect material for all kinds of creative projects. Here are some pool noodle crafts that’ll make you say “Why didn’t I think of that?”
Pom Pom Launchers and Targets
What you’ll need:
Pom Poms
Balloons
Tape
Pool Noodles
Create a round target by shaping a pool noodle into a circle and securing it together with tape. Apply several strips of tape across the circle so that the inside of the circle is sticky. Cut a small section off of another pool noodle for the popper (should fit in your hand). Tie the end of a deflated balloon and cut a hole in the top. Stretch the balloon over one end of the small piece of noodle and secure it with tape. Grab your pom poms and you are ready to shoot!
Race Car Track/Marble Run
Cut pool noodles down the middle to create two half-moon shaped strips. Cut them into different lengths and attach them to a wall or fence. Not only is this a fun activity for toddlers, but older kids can enjoy the creativity of rearranging the noodles to make new and exciting tracks for their cars or marbles!
(Toy cars can be heavy and make the pool noodles move or fall down. Be sure to use a heavy duty tape or sturdy attachment when using cars.)
Pool Noodle Cactus Craft
Simply cut up a green pool noodle in various lengths, poke toothpicks into the noodle pieces then add some flowers (I used my pipe cleaner lilies!) and boom! You’ve got yourself a prickly little cactus!
