How to Make a Penguin Valentines Box

Valentine’s Day is February 14, and the kids will be celebrating with parties in their classrooms. They’ll do a happy dance when you help them make this penguin Valentines box to hold all the cute cards they receive from classmates! Penguin party time!

Penguin Valentine Mailbox*

This “tweet” mailbox is perfect for holding Valentine cards from friends and family.

You will need:

– recycled cracker box, 6″ x 9″

– (2) 1″ wiggly eyes

– craft glue

– scissors, paintbrush

– craft foam: purple, orange, hot pink, light pink, white

– tiny pearl beaded ribbon, approx. 22″ in length

– acrylic paint: purple

– craft knife (adult supervision needed)

 

What to do:

Step 1: Close top and bottom tabs. Ask an adult helper to cut a 4 ½” long by ½” tall slit in back of box near the top. Paint box purple. Let dry.

Step 2: Cut front of penguin from white craft foam, wings from purple craft foam, beak and webbed feet from orange craft foam and bow tie from (2) hot pink hearts and (2) light pink hearts. (Print pattern pieces.)

Step 3: Refer to photo, and glue all pieces in place. Add eyes.

Step 4: Glue pearl beaded ribbon around the white craft foam penguin front.
